🚴 Frequently Asked Questions

At Rocket Ebikes, we want to ensure your electric bike journey is smooth from start to finish. Below are the most common questions we get from customers before and after their purchase:

1. What is an electric bike?

An electric bike, or e-bike, is a bicycle equipped with a battery-powered motor that assists your pedaling. This makes it easier to ride longer distances, tackle hills, and commute without overexerting yourself. The motor only works when you pedal, giving you a natural cycling experience with an extra boost when you need it.

2. How fast can e-bikes go?

In the UK, road-legal e-bikes are limited to assistance speeds of up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h). Once you exceed that speed, the motor cuts out, though you can still pedal faster under your own power. E-bikes with motors above 250W or speeds beyond 15.5 mph are classed as mopeds or motorbikes and require registration, insurance, and a valid driving license for road use.

3. Do I need a license to ride an e-bike?

No license is required to ride an e-bike in the UK, provided it complies with the EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) regulations. This means the motor must be 250W or less and must stop assisting at 15.5 mph. E-bikes that exceed these limits fall under moped or motorcycle regulations.

4. How far can I travel on a single charge?

The range of an e-bike depends on factors like battery size, terrain, rider weight, assistance level used, and riding style. On average, most e-bikes offer a range between 50 to 100 km (30–60 miles) per charge. Some higher-spec models can exceed 100 km under optimal conditions.

5. How long does it take to charge the battery?

Charging times vary depending on the battery size and charger, but most e-bike batteries take between 4 to 7 hours to fully recharge from empty. We recommend charging after each ride to ensure maximum range and battery life.

6. Can I ride an e-bike in the rain?

Yes, all of our e-bikes are water-resistant and suitable for riding in the rain. However, they are not waterproof, so while rain is fine, avoid submerging the bike or using high-pressure water for cleaning. Always dry your bike and battery after riding in wet conditions to maintain performance.

7. What maintenance does an e-bike require?

E-bikes require regular maintenance just like traditional bicycles. This includes checking tyre pressure, lubricating the chain, and ensuring the brakes and gears are functioning properly. You should also:

  • Keep battery terminals clean and dry.
  • Update any firmware (for models with smart displays).
  • Schedule periodic servicing depending on your usage.

8. What is the warranty on Rocket Ebikes?

Each e-bike we sell includes a manufacturer-backed warranty. Coverage typically includes:

  • Frame: 1–2 years
  • Battery: 6–12 months
  • Motor & electronics: 1 year
Please check individual product listings or our warranty policy for specific details. We’re here to support you if any issue arises.

9. How long does delivery take?

Most in-stock bikes are delivered within 7-10 working days. However, some models may take longer depending on the manufacturer or current stock levels. We’ll keep you updated with delivery timelines and tracking details once your order is dispatched.

10. Can I ride an e-bike without the battery?

Yes, you can still ride an e-bike like a traditional bicycle if the battery is removed or runs out of charge. However, without motor assistance, it may feel heavier due to the extra weight of the motor and battery. It's a useful backup and gives you flexibility for longer trips.

11. Do you offer a Cycle to Work Scheme?
